From 26 April to 6 May 2016, the DIADEMS consortium organised a summer school in Cargèse, Corsica, dedicated to the emerging field of quantum sensing technologies. The event, which was hosted by the IESC (Institut d’Études Scientifiques de Cargèse), attracted a total of 60 students from all over the world.

The programme covered the different quantum-enhanced sensing techniques, with a focus on the Nitrogen-Vacancy (NV) center in diamond, while providing an overview of several complementary, and sometimes competing, magnetometry methods. The lectures were given by a total of 23 pre-eminent international scientists.

The summer school was a huge success and feedback from the students and speakers alike was very positive. All participants were pleased with the interesting and varied content of the lectures, the interactive learning atmosphere and the great networking opportunities.
